The CalDos granular calcium hypochlorite feeder stores and accurately meters granular calcium hypochlorite. This is not a tablet feeder but uses the more commonly available granules which are easier to handle and less costly to buy. There are many problems with tablet feeders. One of the main problems is the lack of competitive supply of tablets. Usually the tablet feeder will only accept a certain kind of tablet which is supplied by only one company. Once you install the tablet feeder, you are locked in to using one kind of tablet and so you are locked in to a price monopoly. With the Dioxide Pacific CalDos unit, you can use common calcium hypochlorite granules which are available at any swimming pool supply store.

The CalDos calcium hypochlorite feeder is a complete, self contained unit which is designed to store and accurately mix, dissolve and dose calcium hypochlorite granules into water. It includes a hopper for storage of the granules and a feeder device for adding the granules to water. Water is tapped off the main pool circulation line and directed to the CalDos unit. Water level in the internal buffer tank is kept constant using a float valve. Granules are added and mixed and then pumped back into the pool recirculation line.

The CalDos system is complete with controller showing the plant status and has wiring terminations for all of the connected items (such as the chlorine residual analyser). Dosing of calcium hypochlorite is done on the basis of proportional or PID control from a chlorine residual analyser. The analyser can provide a pulse or pulse duration control signal to the CalDos unit.
